How it moves
One crank turns two shafts through a small wooden gearbox; thirty cams on them lift the fifteen slats one after another, so the wave rolls on and on — the rowboat bobbing on top.

Every joint is designed to fit together by hand. Wood is a natural material, so now and then a joint may need light sanding or a drop of the glue in the box. The box also has spares of the small parts.
